This virtual reality experience was created for the pre-construction sales of the Mechanicsville Lofts, a modern residential project in Ottawa by Linebox Studio and developer Modbox.
Developed in Unreal Engine 4, the technical challenge was maintaining a constant 90 frames per second (fps) on the consumer GPUs available in 2016. This required deep optimization, as the hardware of that era lacked the dedicated ray-tracing processors and 10x+ computational performance found in GPUs just a few years later. This focus on efficiency resulted in a smooth, comfortable walkthrough that allowed potential buyers to explore the unbuilt lofts in real-time.
